The Life of a Leading WAG -- Alex Curran

Wag to footballer Steven Gerrard of Liverpool, Alex Curran, owns her own fragrance, is a model and a fashion writer. The couple began dating in 2002, following breakups with their previous partners. The two were married in June 2007 and now have two daughters.

Although by all outward appearances, Alex appears to be a good girl living the dream life of a celebrity, it hasn't been without a few bumps in the road. Late in 2006, Curran and Jamelia, WAG to Darren Byfield, started quite the feud.

It all started when Jamelia told the media that without Gerrard, Curran would be nothing and proceeded to mention Curran's decreasing weight. Curran replied that as far as her husband was concerned, Byfield was below a non-leaguer; the fight was on. But then, Curran's reasons for marrying Gerrard have been questioned on several occasions.

In August of 2006, Curran got into an argument with a young girl in a Liverpool restaurant. The young girl had been hit in the face with a glass bottle and Alex was subsequently arrested. The charges were dropped a few months later.

Tragedy struck the family again in 2007, yet the pair remained strong; Gerrard accidently hit a 10 year old boy in front of his school when the child ran out onto the street. Gerrard felt so bad, he brought a Rooney signed football when he visited him a short time later.

During a rash of robberies in the homes of footballers, Curran and another gal pal were approached by four thieves the same day she had revealed in an interview that she had purchased a £10 000 watch for her husband. The two women and the girls were left unharmed, but Curran was badly shaken over the event. As a result, Gerrard hired a team of SAS soldiers to protect his home.

Regardless of the glamorous life she has led, Alex Curran has continued to take flack for a wide variety of things. A woman threw her to the ground and tossed champagne on her after the 2008 Brit Awards. The media and paparazzi have also attacked her numerous times. Her weight and her fashion blunders have often been the focus of many headlines. One even went so far as to accuse her of being pregnant and made fun of her bigger belly.

Alex Curran is one of the world's favourite WAGs, despite everything the public has put her through. In August of 2008, Alex Curran took the 'Queen of WAG' crown from Victoria Beckham. This says a lot considering that the Tatler Magaziner usually focuses on the more socialite style WAGs.
